Pastor Leon E. Rodgers, Sr.

Pastor Leon E. Rodgers was born in Columbus, Ohio to the late Deacon Bennie Rodgers and mother Claudia Rodgers. Pastor Rodgers is the second son of four and was raised in Columbus. He is married to Sister Alison (Pelham) and is the father of two adult children Leon II and Alicia and one grandson, Jajuan.

 

Pastor Rodgers graduated from Mohawk Jr.-Sr. High School in Columbus. He later attended The Ohio State University where he played football. Pastor Rodgers completed his Bachelor of Science in Accounting at Franklin University. He also earned his Master of Business Administration at the University of Cincinnati.

 

Pastor Rodgers delivered his initial sermon in June of 1990 and was ordained in July of 1999 by the late Pastor Emmett Moore, Jr. of the Seventh Avenue Community Baptist Church of Columbus. Pastor Rodgers also served as Assistant to the Pastor at Seventh Avenue and was the founder and Director of the Agape (Youth) Ministry.

 

Pastor Rodgers is an Adjunct Faculty Member at Ohio Christian University. He is co-vocational, serving as a Vice President at J.P. Morgan Chase Bank. Pastor Rodgers serves as the Chairman of the Board of South Scioto Academy in Columbus. He also conducts Financial Planning Seminars for church groups and local organizations.

 

Pastor Rodgers is active in the Baptist Pastors' Conference of Columbus and Vicinity (Auditor), the Full Gospel Baptist Church Columbus District (Director of Men's Ministry, and is a member of the Eastern Union Missionary Baptist Association, the American Baptist Conference, and the National Baptist Convention, USA.

 

Pastor Rodgers was called to lead the Mount Carmel Community Baptist Church in February of 2002. Under his leadership, several ministries have been initiated, including the Agape (youth) ministry, Agape Mime and Dance Troupe, Men of VAlor, Health and Wellness Ministry, and the Women's Fellowship.

 

Pastor Rodgers leads by example and is committed to the belief that the Mountain on the South Side will be a beacon in the community. He reminds us that, " We are no longer valley-dwellers..." Pastor Rodgers is firmly rooted and dedicated to the mission of spreading the gospel and winning souls for Gods kingdom.
